At the Apollo

*Caution: This post may contain adult content*

How could I forget naked Apollo (or is it more politically correct to say "nude" Apollo since this is art)? My apologies to the Greek God, but oh, wait! This Apollo statue was not here in May of 2011; due to the largeness of *clear throat* one of Apollo's shining attributes, there was pressure from The League of Femnine Virtue to have it removed. In 1956, having just been erected at the beginning of Nice's Place Massena he was removed in 1986; those pesky nagging women got their way. It just makes me think of all the statues that line the Vatican with their fig leaves strategically placed and a painting that hangs in Provo's Los Hermanos restaurant of a handsome Roman man with a colorful woven blanket that has been hung with care over his torso, but oh the glorious French, leave it to them to love the human form in all its glory and to put it on display. Hence, the local Nicois rallied together to have Apollo brought back to his rightful spot and June of 2011 he was unveiled--glory and all. Thus, Tammy has made this our designated meeting spot *wink, wink* (don't worry Tammy, just our group knows how much you appreciate breathtaking art).
